THEATRE STUDIES APPLICATION
University Application:
All applicants for the BA in Theatre Studies submit the normal application for admission to the. Information and application forms are available from: Admissions Office, UConn, 2131 Hillside Road, U-3088, Storrs, CT 06269-3088, (860) 486-3137. On your application, indicate your wish to enter as a BA in Theatre Studies major.
Please submit your application well before the University's February 1st deadline.
Departmental Application:
There are now only a limited number of enrollment slots available in this program each year. To become a BA Theatre Studies major you must (1) be admitted to the University of Connecticut (see above) AND (2) you must be admitted into the major by the Dramatic Arts Department. What follows is a replica of the "Departmental Application" for the Theatre Studies program. (Hard copy is also available upon request from the Department). Please answer the questions below, including the essay described in item #3. Print out your answers using a standard, 12 point typeface. Return this application to Department of Dramatic Arts, Unit 1127, University of Connecticut, Storrs, CT, 06269-1127. We recommend that this part of your application arrive to the Dramatic Arts Department by the deadline of March 1. An interview with the BA admissions committee mightalso be required prior to a final departmental decision regarding your admission to the Theatre Studies program.

1. Briefly describe any formal training you have had (such as classes at your school or at other schools) in any elements of theatre or related dramatic arts.
2. Briefly list experiences you have had (acting, directing, stage manager, designing, construction, running crew, etc.) working on or with theatre productions in your school, community theatre or professional theatre.
3. In an essay of approximately 250-500 words, tell us what elements of the dramatic arts excite you the most. What aspects of theatre and related studies have made you interested in pursuing this field? Are there any specific functions within the dramatic arts (director, dramaturg, historian, critic, playwright, stage manager, agent, many more) that you are thinking about as a potential career?
