BFA PUPPETRY
APPLICATION AND AUDITION
Each year we see an increase in the number of people wishing
to be part of our program. Because facilities and resources
are limited and we have a strong commitment to maintain the
quality of programming that we offer, we require an entry audition
at all levels.
University Application: Applicants for all BFA programs in
Dramatic Arts must submit a completed application to the University
of Connecticut Admissions Office. Information and application
forms are available from: Admissions Office, UConn, 2131 Hillside
Road, Unit 3088, Storrs, CT 06269-3088, (860) 486-3137. On
your application, indicate your wish to enter the School of
Fine Arts and to major in Design/Technical Theatre within
the Department of Dramatic Arts.
Departmental Audition: Each year we see an increase in the
number of people wishing to be part of our Puppetry Program.
Because facilities and resources are limited and we have a
strong commitment to maintain the quality of programming that
we offer, we require an entry audition at all levels.
The audition process includes:
(1) a prepared 3-5 minute presentation
in any expressive discipline of strength for the applicant
(2) an improvised presentation with objects provided by the
audition committee
(3) a presentation of past work through
a portfolio
(4) an interview. All auditions will take
place on the Storrs campus of UConn.
*The applicant should make every effort to audition in person. If this is impossible, an audition and interview can be arranged via video recording and telephone. Video Auditions must be received by January 27, 2012
Auditions for slots in the BFA Puppetry class that will begin
training in the Fall Semester of 2012 will take place on:
Saturday, December 3, 2011
Saturday, January 28, 2012
To schedule an admissions interview with the director of
the Puppet Arts Program, please call the Dramatic Arts Office
at (860) 486-4025 or (860) 486-4568.
If you are admitted to the University of Connecticut
but NOT invited to join the BFA Program after your portfolio
review, you may still apply and be interviewed for admission
to the Bachelor of Arts Program in Theatre Studies. The BA
in Theatre Studies is a general, academic degree in Theatre.
Please understand, however, that as a Theatre Studies student
you will not have access to all of the advanced design and
technical courses. For more information on the BA in Theatre
Studies, click here.
