Paul Spirito– (Puppet Arts Technical Supervisor) Paul
Spirito received a B.S. in Industrial Design in 1992. After
working in the toy industry for 10 years he decided it was
time for a change. Wanting to explore figurative and kinetic
art, he was accepted into the Puppetry Arts Program at the
University of Connecticut where he found himself pursuing
an MFA degree. Puppetry was a way to combine the mechanical
and spatial sense of product design with the figurative art
he had been looking to for. The surprise for him was that
puppetry is more than moving sculpture, it is performance.
The dramatic art education he has received has been an invaluable
part of his experience.
While at UCONN he has performed in many Puppetry Slams and
helped to build puppets for many Connecticut Reparatory Theater
Productions, including: Peter Pan, Into the Woods, Jonah’s
Dream, Balloon, and It Can’t Happen Here.
Now working for CRT/Dramatic/Puppet Arts Program as a Technical
Supervisor…
