David Pfeiffer comes to UCONN with nearly thirty years
of directing, teaching and performing experience. He was the
Director for the Opera Program at the University of Southern
California and has also taught acting and directing at Ohio,
Oakland, Kutztown, Indiana, and Carnegie Mellon Universities.
He was an the directing staff of New York City opera for 10
years where he directed among Carmen, The Pearl Fishers and
The Mikado, amongst other works. He has worked at over 60
Opera and Theatre companies and Festivals and universities
in North America, Europe and Japan including The Spoleto,
Lake George Opera, Ashlawn-Highland and Holland Festivals.
David has received 3 citations from the Kennedy Center’s
American College Theatre Festival and has adjudicated both
performances as well as regional Irene Ryan Scholarship Auditions.
As an actor David has work on stage, film, TV and in concert
some favorites being Harrison Loved His Umbrella with the
Spoleto Festival, part of the opening act for Mr. Ray Bolgers
last Tour and singing for Aaron Copeland in concert. David
has more recently portrayed General Petkoff in Shaw’s
Arms and the Man, Nat Miller in O’Neill’s Ah Wilderness
and Matthew Brady in Inherit the Wind.
David has a Bachelor in Music (voice performance) & had
a fellowship towards a MFA in directing as a member of the
Hilberry Theatre and holds an MFA in Directing from Ohio University’s
Professional Directing Program. He has studied acting with
Bill Hickey (HB studios) Michael Graves, Karen Ludwig, Diane
Salinger, Jack Young and Larry Silverberg. |
