Merit-based Aid - Full and half-time Graduate Assistantships
are available to qualified students. The half assistantship
stipend is $9,408.75. All assistantships carry full a tuition
waiver. Medical and Dental Insurance are available at group
rates. Rates are available on the Human Resources website.
Graduate Assistants are responsible for full-time fees. Lectureships
involving the teaching of undergraduate courses are sometimes
available to highly qualified graduate students. Lectureships
carry stipends per three-credit course, but do not include
a tuition waiver. Medical and Dental Insurance are available
at group rates. Rates are available on the Human Resources
website. Various departmental student labor scholarships averaging
$500 are often available. For more specific information about
assistantships in each of the department's MFA programs, check
with the individual program directors.
To apply for an assistantship, check "yes" after
the appropriate question on the application for admission.
The major advisors make decisions on the award of graduate
assistantships.
Need-based Aid - Various types of assistance in the form
of work study, tuition remission, loans, and minority fellowships
are available to graduate students meeting the University's
financial aid criteria. For need-based applications, you must
