Merit-based Aid - Full and half-time Graduate
Assistantships are available to qualified students. The half
assistantship stipend is $8,610.03. All assistantships carry
full tuition remission valued at $3,555 (resident) and $9,239
(non resident), bringing the total yearly value of a half-assistantship
to $27,088 (non-resident) and $15,720 (resident). Students
with graduate assistantships may purchase excellent health
insurance, heavily subsidized by the University. Lectureships
involving the teaching of undergraduate courses are sometimes
available to highly qualified graduate students. Lectureships
carry stipends of $3,630 per three-credit course, but do not
include tuition remission or medical insurance unless the
graduate student also holds an assistantship. Various departmental
student labor scholarships averaging $500 are often available.
For more specific information about assistantships in each
of the department's MFA programs, check with the individual
program directors.
